Developer - Sybase -

Location: DC

Length 6-12 months

 

Description:

About the Position: 
This position will be responsible for working on our internal application,
DEBTS, which is built on Summit. DEBTS provides straight-through processing
for Fannie Mae's debt and derivatives business. Specifically, this position
will be responsible for implementing enhancements to DEBTS as a member of
the DEBTS development team based on the priority set by management. 

Responsibilities: 
- Perform analysis, design, development, testing, documentation and
implementation of assigned software development tasks 
- Work under the guidance of a project manager and report status as required

- Follow Fannie Mae's development guidelines, standards and procedures 
- Provide technical expertise to other developers as required 

Qualifications: 
Must-Have Skills: 
- 6+ years of development experience (experience with Summit highly desired)

- Experience with Sybase and SQL 
- Experience with C/C++ 
- Experience with UNIX internals and shell scripting 
- Strong knowledge and use of full lifecycle development methodologies,
standards and procedures 
- Ability to multi-task and provide expertise for multiple concurrent
project tasks 
- Resourceful and self starter with minimal hand holding required 
- Good team work and communication skills 

Preferred Skills: 
- Experience with Oracle 
- Leadership skills 
- Experience with Ant, Rational ClearCase, Rational ClearQuest, and UCM 

**Experience with Summit is highly desired, but not required. 

 

Position#2

Project Manager 

Location: Herndon, VA

Length: 6-12 months

Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall performance of medium to
large projects in accordance with the regulatory requirements and company
policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory requirements. The incumbent
will join the PMO team in Fannie Mae's Business Analysis and Decisions
Division that is responsible for building critical credit risk and market
risk models, applications, data systems and performance measurement tools. 

We follow a principles-based approach to project management. 
. Transparency with respect to products, progress & goals - frequently
communicated broadly 
. Engagement of key project contributors/stakeholders, leaders and oversight
groups 
. Accountability for deliverables/tasks resulting in reliable plans & timely
delivery 
. Effective leadership platforms established and facilitated (meetings,
emails) 
. Project life cycle processes that deliver product quality 
. Periodic prioritization of potential scope items into releases by
leadership team 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 
. Maintain updated project plans - facilitate coordination among project
contributors. 
. Effectively influence team members to follow best practices. 
. Provide frequent, clear and comprehensive communications across the team. 
. Serve as the point person for identifying, tracking and resolving all
major issues and risks. 
. Provide a context-driven approach to project management that delivers
compliance with: 
SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and 
CMP (Corporate Model Policy), and 
SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley). 
. Ensure all project stakeholders are consistently engaged on critical
business projects. 
. Develop content for each meeting to ensure that all time is spent
efficiently and effectively. 
. Generate metrics and dashboards for external reporting. 
. Assume the role of a CRB Admin (Change Review Board). 
. Generate and maintain application specific documentation. 
. Work closely with business leads to ensure smooth rollout of releases into
business operations. 

EXPERIENCE 
. 5 years managing complex projects involving cross-divisional teams of
professionals in a structured environment. Scientific software/model
development project experience preferred. 
. Thorough understanding of project management best practices and their
context-driven implementation. PMP certification preferred. 
. 10 yrs experience in software/model development, testing, and/or
requirements writing in a structured development environment 
. 5+ years working in fixed income/mortgage finance or a related field
desired 
. Masters degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science or other
quantitative discipline 

PERSONAL & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS 
. Excellent time manager and multi-tasker with strong work ethic and drive
for excellence 
. Outstanding written & oral communication skills, including the ability to
lead large project teams 
. Ability to support multiple projects and application teams 
. Gains support for change by providing context and responds with
sensitivity to concerns 
. Takes initiative to recommend innovative approaches to getting things done

. Assertive, independent, and knowledgeable. 

 

Position#3

Microstrategy Developer 

Location: DC

Length: 6-12 months

Description:

Developer III performs high complexity (i.e. system level applications)
analysis, design, development and unit testing of software applications from
user requirements and design documents. The candidate also resolves defects
encountered during various testing cycles. 

In this instance, the candidate MUST have EXPERT knowledge of MicroStrategy
(ideally version 8.x), ideally also of Netezza. Must have a solid
understanding of data modeling, database design and SQL.
