Position: Application Engineer (Recommind System Services) Department: Information Services – Application Development
Reports To: Director, Application Development Location: Boston, MA Rate: $45/hr Duration: 2-3 Months (with extension) NEED GCs/Citizens ONLY Only phone interview *JOB SUMMARY* · Participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the new Recommind eDiscovery platform and other assigned multi-tiered and major business applications in use within the Firm. Responsible for application functional integration, updating, packaging requirements, configuration, support (troubleshooting and level 3 support), design and technical documentation for these assigned applications. Acts as primary Technical Reference User for the new Recommind eDiscovery platform and other designated applications, as required, to ensure that the Firm is fully leveraging tools within its applications portfolio. *PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** · Primary focus will be on the implementation and on-going support of the new Recommind eDiscovery platform. · Provide ongoing maintenance for the underlying Recommind system environment. · Participates in application packaging requirements, configuration, design, and customization for other large, complex, or Firm-wide applications, as needed. · Acts as Technical Reference User for assigned applications, frequently working with Business Reference User(s) to understand how applications are used at the firm. · Performs application deployments, upgrades and patch planning. · Maintains awareness of technology developments and makes recommendations to the Director, Application Development. · Assists with resolution of escalated incidents and participates in problem management activities. Assumes ownership of level 3 support and troubleshooting of assigned applications. · Assists in evaluating the business relevance and requirements of applications and upgrades under consideration. · Serves as a resource for small application-specific development requests. · Designs, configures, codes, and documents business systems and assigned application software. · Contributes to the Firm's ServiceMatters initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person. · Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Experience with eDiscovery systems (Recommind Axcelerate, Autonomy Introspect, LexisNexis Concordance, Documatrix, Ringtail, etc.). · Knowledge of fundamental legal information system requirements. · Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft OS-based desktop, server, and database systems. Good knowledge of Microsoft networking concepts and common infrastructure. · Good knowledge of server hardware, server storage and other infrastructure, client/server applications, and server utilities. · Working knowledge of SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 and strong SQL skills. · Exposure to development languages/environments including ASP, JavaScript, VBScript XML, as well as .NET technologies such as ASP.NET, VB.NET and Visual Studio.NET · Troubleshooting experience with PC desktop applications in an enterprise environment. · Experience supporting a 24x7 production environment · Ability to work effectively with both users and technical staff in team-oriented environments. · Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. · Ability to work successfully and independently in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures. · Experience working with Citrix and VMWare · Exposure to Java and Tomcat a plus · Knowledge of ITIL processes a plus Education · Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience Experience: · 5-6 years experience in applications and services integration and/or development, with significant specialization in one or more areas of the above-mentioned areas of technology. · 2-3 years experience in application analysis. · Minimum of 4 years experience working in a Windows environment including some exposure to Windows programming languages and relational databases.
