Project Description: The client is looking for a Data Analyst to assist in the evaluation, modification and implementation of a custom Operational Data Store (ODS) that would manage all student, teacher, and parent data for client for the Student Parent E-Mail initiative. Position Functions or Responsibilities: The Data Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: • Conduct data analysis, design and documentation of the complex and enterprise-level ODS, specifically for the Student Parent Email project • Work with other data analysts, business users and IT professionals to ensure that the Student Parent Email initiative data requirements are met with the highest degree of integrity and efficiency that is practical and cost effective • Ensure that the vendor business needs are met and that they understand the complex data as it exists within the client. • Work with the existing ODS team to ensure the data stores are designed in compliance with corporate standards and to ensure that information is managed as a significant corporate asset • Participate in, or facilitate, business process and requirement sessions to fully understand the project requirements and the data necessary to support those requirements both during the blueprinting and the implementation of any modifications to the enterprise ODS • Ensure that documentation is captured, maintained, understood by and available to business and/or IT partners • Communicate with other data analysts to ensure an enterprise-wide consistency in implementing data model changes, promote re-use, and improve data quality She/he will work as a member of the ODS technical team reporting to one the Business owners and Project Manager. Duties and Responsibilities: • Work as a team lead to identify and implement modifications to an existing ODS to meet project requirements. • Participate in, or facilitate, business process and requirement sessions to ensure that the team fully understands the requirements and the data necessary to support those requirements • Ensure that data requirements are translated into a logical data model that includes an entity-relationship diagram of entities, attributes, key structures as defined by the company standard • Work closely with the various IT departments to ensure the project data needs are met within the system(s) • Work with vendors and internal development groups, as needed, for information discovery • Review existing documentation and processes to ensure a strong understanding of existing systems • Escalate potential problems as needed to address any issues in advance of deadlines Experience: • Five years of process improvement experience. • Experience that leverages technology as part of the solution in Data Analyst. • Business domain experience in the education industry. • Proven Knowledge/experience in logical and physical data modeling and normalization data. • Hands-on experience with process modeling, analysis and simulation tools. • Knowledge of relevant business process standards (for example, business process modeling notation). • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs. • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to create original concepts on projects. • Ability to analyze project needs and solve problems may span multiple environments in a business area.
