Title: Senior VMware Engineer
Location :Scottsdale, AZ
Duration: 3+months
Participate in data center relocation of large and complex
environments. VMware projects center around technical hardware /
software migrations ("Physical To Virtual" migrations) in the Windows
environment, including working with SANs, backups, applications, and
similar VMware tasks. Significant datacenter virtualization experience
is a job requirement.
Responsibilities:
* Execute VMware ESX-related projects providing guidance and expertise
based on multiple years experience leading technical facets of large-
scale (datacenter-sized) VMWare ESX projects.
* Provide guidance and oversight for P2V (VMware & Platespin) over
distance
* Execute standard Windows Server related tasks at a Level 2-level
Skills and Knowledge:
* Must have a very high level of proficiency with VMware ESX 3.5 and
4.0.
* Must have experience technically leading and executing VMware
specific tasks, including P2V Migrations, ESX *Datacenter* setup, and
must have experience with common and uncommon ESX problems.
* Must be familiar with VMware ESX best practices and policies.
* Must be familiar with Platespin and its usage.
* Experience in technically overseeing and executing a large-scale
datacenter-size migration of servers from physical hardware to virtual
hardware (including dealing with technology owners / application
owners, setting up physical hardware, working with VMware technical
support as-needed, and reading documentation and processes provided by
other groups.)
Certificates, License and Registrations:
Preferred (certified candidates will be preferred over non-certified):
* VCP-ESX 3.5 and/or ESX 4.0
Position requires that you have your own laptop and Microsoft Office
software suite including Project.
