We currently have an immediate requirement for a *Development Director *in Redwood City, CA. This is a 6 month* contract to Hire *position. Responsibilities Include: The Technical Development Director provides overall leadership and influence at a team level, managing one or more components of a large, complex, strategic project. Working with multiple stakeholders, the Technical Development Director helps ensure the project is planned, staffed, scheduled, executed, and communicated properly. The Technical Development Director works closely with the engineers to track progress, help resolve blocking issues, and prioritize tasks. The Technical Development Director also works with internal and external stakeholders to track feature requests, change requests, and defect resolution. Key responsibilities include: . Partner with Product Owners to optimize the trade-off between quality, time and cost for product issues; . Manage multiple development or support sub-teams across multiple disciplines . Work in a distributed team environment while collaborating with development partners . Strong focus on managing performance through coaching, mentoring and training; strong communicator using active listening skills such as clarifying, understanding and confirming; . Address challenging motivational situations and coach in areas of personal strength; . Think outside the box in a challenging and ambiguous environment; being resourceful and creating constructive and innovative solutions; . Effectively partner with peers outside of team to establish alliances and aid in strategic planning; . Define initial project scope and delivery schedules; . Manages day-to-day project schedules and motivates team towards a common project goal; set objectives, prioritize and organize task/people assignments. . Strong resource planning experience; . Initiate or implement development process improvements to achieve efficiencies; . Act as a change agent for process improvements; . Proactively identifies risks associated with meeting project milestones; . Ensures necessary steps are taken to resolve issues which may impede progress or compromise project's objectives; . Proactively anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks. . Work with engineers to understand and address emergent or unplanned issues. Skills Include: The Technical Development Director is expected to possess the following: . 5+ years of software development experience. . 4+ years Project Management experience working on complex technical projects. . Familiarity with client desktop application development as a software developer or project manager. . Experience managing a small to mid-sized team of direct reports. . Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills. . Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization. . Educational background expected to include a Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; PMP Certification an asset . Familiarity with agile development a plus.
