*High Performance Computing (HPC) Bioinformatics Cluster Administrator Indianapolis, Indiana 3 Months*
*Relevant Experience (Yrs) * Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing Unix/Linux operating systems in a large scale system environment *Technical/Functional Skills * Ability to develop and maintain programs and scripts that aid in the operation and automation of administrative tasks using various shell and scripting languages (bash, Perl, Python). Solid understanding of networked computing environment concepts is required. Experience with high-performance storage systems (SAN, NAS, or Scale-out NAS) with over 250TB of storage is requested. Knowledge and experience with parallelizing compiler technology and tuning compute-intensive scientific applications *Roles & Responsibilities* • Consulting with researchers on specific questions regarding the application/use of HPC Bioinformatics systems. • Providing one-on-one and small group research facilitation by assisting researchers who may be unfamiliar with the use of advanced computational systems for the analysis of genetic and chemical data. • Develop and promote standard operating procedures, including performing audits to ensure compliance with the procedures • Write, modify and maintain programs that help automate system administration tasks, including monitoring and open-ended problem diagnosis • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and fault isolation in situations where failure causes are not obviously apparent • Assist with generating technical documentation and respond to questions from user community and local support staff • Interact with researchers, other Cluster systems support staff globally, and with hardware/software vendors as necessary • Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations • Responsible for system security and integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions • Allocate storage as needed, monitor capacity and performance on storage systems • Work with infrastructure team to plan and implement cluster, storage, and networking expansion and replacement activities • Monitor and tune system to achieve optimum performance • Under general direction, responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining system component *Generic Managerial Skills* • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work as a team player and collaborate with end users and other system administrators. • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks, and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision *Education * The successful candidate will have a B.S. or MS in Computer Science or Computational Biology/Computational Chemistry (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) and a strong working knowledge of computational methods, Linux and networking fundamentals -- Regards, Jaspal CMC Americas, Inc.
