The DB2 administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, designing, administering, maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the agency databases; including patching, upgrading, and installation. This role optimizes the DB2 data environment by keeping databases finely tuned (queries/tables/indexes), by automating incoming and outgoing data feeds, and by troubleshooting any data access problems. Work is accomplished in a highly collaborative environment and independently with a focus on quality and customer service. Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues Designs, builds, configures, and administers Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS’s) Supports software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML, and the creation of stored procedures Develops strategies configuration, backup/recovery, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions for DBMS’s on Unix based platforms Troubleshoots existing DBMS’s by monitoring and diagnosing performance related issues Works with Database Architect to deploy and fine-tune test databases for the purpose of production validation. Installs and configures RDBMS software Recommends and coordinates the upgrading and patching DBMS’s Works with other departments to streamline data processes *II.
