Role :Web Sphere Portal Consultant

Location : Pittsburgh PA

Interview : 1st Phone, 2nd in-person/Skype.

Duration : 1+ Year

 

 

 

Job Description :

Ø  The candidate will investigate portal issues and determine best solutions; 
troubleshoot, debug and solve technology integration and performance problems; 
and collaborate with Architects to ensure that the products and components 
work together, meet defined standards, and meet the objectives and performance 
goals as defined in the requirements. 

 

 

 

Preference given to experience in the following areas:

Ø  Manufacturing functional domain

Ø  Intranet/Internet site development

Ø  Web and Application Security

Ø  Performance

Ø  Quality

Ø  Operational aspects

 

 

Years of Work Experience:

Ø  The candidate will have skills and at least 4 years recent experience on 
IBM Websphere

Ø  Portal and at least 3 years or more experience with J2EE development.

 

 

Personal Skills Required:

Ø  Excellent communication ability to be able to communicate with customers 
to work on functional and technical requirements, and with team members and 
management as needed

Ø  Ability to independently research and solve technical issues 

Ø  Ability to meet targeted deadlines with minimal supervision

Ø  Ability to follow and support USS standards for design, development, 
implementation 
and documentation.

Ø  Able to perform independently and give direction to others

Ø  Self starter in developing new technical skills

Ø  Able to demonstrate strong technical growth

 

 

 

Technical Skills Required:

Ø  Recent enterprise level project experience on IBM Websphere Portal to be 
able to bring value to our effort of creating an Enterprise Internet/Intranet 
(prefer 7.x or higher).

Ø  Recent skills/experience and in-depth knowledge of Java portlets (JSR 286 
/ iWidgets)

Ø  Experience with Portal API/SPI and Portlet lifecycle

Ø  Recent skills/experience and in-depth knowledge of IBM Web Content 
Management 
(WCM) to be able to independently add/manage content, as well as understand 
performance and security issues

Ø  Includes WCM development (site areas, presentation/authoring templates, 
etc) and JSR 286 Portlet development 

Ø  In-depth knowledge of Java, HTML5, CSS3 to be able to perform without 
assistance

Ø  Exposure to Portal Administration, LDAP, Domino, RDBMS, Web/HTTP, Responsive 
Design

Ø  Have sound experience with J2EE – JSP, JSF, Servlets, JDBC, XML

Ø  Proficient in the use of software development tools (IBM Rational 
Application 
Developer 8, Clear Case, Clear Quest) and techniques in software projects

 

 

 

Additional Skills/Qualities not required but would be a plus:

Ø  Sound experience with some of:

Ø  WebSphere Portal Personalization (PZN)

Ø  WebSphere Portal Theme and Skin Development / Customization

Ø  Interportlet Communication using JSR 286 Event model
