Role : VMware Systems Administrator Duration : 9 month project Location : Reston, VA Candidates must be able to attend an on-site interview for the 2nd interview. All candidates must have a work authorization of Citizen or Green Card. Distributed Systems Administrator: 7 + years of experience: This is a VMware SYSTEMS ADMIN position. Requires scripting and Linux experience. 24/7 on call rotation. On site - no remote. The Sr. VMware and Windows/Linux administrator is responsible for maintaining the operational status of systems and working closely with other members of the Information Technology department within the company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing VMware, ESX and Linux/Windows (prefer strong Linux experience). As a VMware administrator, candidate is responsible for configuration, design, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the overall VMware environments including Corporate and engineering clusters. Responsibility also includes managing documentation and policy and procedure compliance for IS systems related to the VMWare environment. Candidate must have strong analysis and decision-making skills with the ability to conduct briefings, participate in technical cross-functional meetings, strong commitment to process and understanding of change and configuration management principles. Candidate must be willing to provide periodic 24/7 on-call coverage. Required skills: · 7-10 years' experience is required · PlateSpin conversions of P2V (Physical to Virtual ) Windows/Linux · Implementing and supporting Windows server operating systems (2000, 2003, 2008) and Linux (Suse/RedHat) · VMware ESX/VMWare vSphere in a distributed system environment (Windows/Linux). · Performance tuning, capacity planning, managing clusters of ESX servers and policy creation. · Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, WMI, VB, PERL, Unix shell, etc.) · Excellent verbal and written communication skills Additional desired skills: · Supporting Citrix (Access Gateway, Web Interface, XenApp 4.5, 5.0, 6.x) · Enterprise Backup technologies (e.g. TSM) · Patch Management (e.g. WSUS). · Active Directory in a distributed system environment.
