*Java Build Management Specialist*



*Trenton, NJ Duration: 10 months USC/GC Only. Must be onsite.*



*Short Project Description:*

The State and Local Government Organization of HP is seeking a *Java Build
Management Specialist *for a Motor Vehicle modernization project.



The person who is chosen must be *on site 5 days a week in Trenton, NJ.*



*Position Details (repeat this section for multiple positions)*

*Consultant Role/Responsibilities or Tasks on Project:*

The JAVA Build Management Specialist develops, analyzes and maintains tools
that support and automate processes for hardware or software product
releases for MATRX. In addition, the JAVA Build Management Specialist
writes installation scripts and programs and works with project teams to
determine an appropriate build schedule and initiates or automates, as
appropriate, the build and packaging process by compiling/ assembling
software from source code. *Note:* *This role requires both process
knowledge and hands-on technical skills for the build and deployment of the
solution and knowledge of Software Configuration Management.*

*Build / Deployment*



   - Manage the build process for multiple concurrent releases.
   - Automate build & deployment process using Maven and Jenkins.
   - Define, develop, implement and evolve continuous integration
   infrastructure.
   - Executes scheduled application builds and deployments in different
   environments
   - Works with the team to correct build errors
   - Work with the development team to ensure development of the Version
   Description Document for the release including, installation instructions
   and rollback plans
   - Review and assess the risk of changes throughout the release process
   - Setup and support release test environments including deployment of
   the release and reporting of changes
   - Participate in deployment & configuration of the application as needed.
   - Ownership, development and support of the Build and Release tool
   infrastructure
   - Continuously look to improve the scalability and efficiency of the
   build/release and deploy process
   - Supports developers for development tools, including, but not limited
   to, IDEs, code coverage tools, source control, and testing tools.
   - Works with the team to develop appropriate developer desktop
   configurations
   - Monitors/communicates progress of software release deployment

*SCM Process *



   - Defines/Refines the project’s Configuration Management processes in
   accordance to HP defined Configuration Management processes.
   - Configures the source control management tools
   - Coordinate and support project branches merging process for shared code
   - Manage the source tree including branching, tagging, locking, etc. and
   may require doing small merges.
   - Gathers/analyzes CM Metrics to monitor process status and compliance
   - Manages the integrity of the baseline to ensure correct revision of
   the CI’s are available at all times and ensures the end-to-end change
   management workflow is implemented for all CI's to ensure only approved
   changes are integrated into the baseline.
   - Ensures CI traceability exists.  Provides consistent discovery,
   identification, classification and documentation in the Configuration
   Management System (CMS) of the hierarchy of a system's functional (e.g.
   requirements, software and documentation) and physical components and the
   attributes and relationships that must be managed and reported across the
   entire applications development and management lifecycle from requirements,
   design, test, development, and deployment through retirement.
   - Facilitates the comparison of different CI versions and identification
   of the changes and restoration of previous versions of CIs as necessary.
   - Provides a record of all updates made to the attributes and
   relationships of a CI.
   - Ensures all CIs including source code, documentation, build and
   deployment scripts/tools are stored in source control
   - Ensures the version of development tools are available via a known
   location at the version supported by the project

*Education/Experience Requirements: MUST HAVE*



   - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or other related field, or
   equivalent work experience





*Skills Required* (*provide specific details around tools, client
environment, certifications needed, etc):  MUST HAVE*

•      5+ years of build/release and configuration management

•      3+ years of experience in building Java/JEE applications using *Maven
/ Ant *

•      Must have experience Building SNAPSHOT dependencies, configuring the
builds from a ClearCase tag, setting up parameterized builds,  performing
post build actions, deploying to an Enterprise Repository Manager

•      Familiar with the Maven M2Release Plugin

•      3+ years of experience with Continuous Integration (CI) tools like
*Jenkins/Hudson*

•      Must have acted as an administrator for *Jenkins*

•      Proficient is use of *IBM Rational ClearQuest, ClearCase* and
*RequisitePro*

•      2+ years of basic UNIX administration and command-line / shell
scripting (Perl, Bash or Python)

•      Proficient with build automation, orchestration and dependency
management tools such as Maven and Ant

•      Experience in deploying and configuring in web-based application
servers such as *WebSphere*, JBOSS and Tomcat

•      Work directly with agile Application Development to provide daily
support aligned with a model of Continuous Delivery.

•      Working knowledge of relational database management system (Oracle
11g)

•      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•      Excellent problem solving, organizational, and priority management
skills.

•      Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

•      Be able to work independently – acts pro-actively, keeps management
apprised of project related issues.

•      Must be able to multi-task and work at all levels of the
organization to resolve issues.



*Skills Desired*

   - Experience with clustering / load balanced solutions
