Job Description:*Title:  Sr. Data Stage Developer *
*Location: Birmingham, AL*
*Duration: 6+ Months  *

*Interview: Phone + F2F *
Duties include but are not limited to: transferring data from the legacy
systems to centralized enterprise repositories, data validation, data
cleansing, data transformation and calculations, as well as writing and
scheduling the load jobs, understanding all the business rules currently
existing in the legacy system and insure they are accounted for in the new
system, excellent understanding of various business metadata, assist with
the research for any changes to existing ETL processes, handle the ETL
functions for new projects, is knowledgeable in Data Warehouse concepts
such as master data management (MDM), operational data stores (ODS), data
marts, fact tables and dimensions.
*Additional responsibilities include:*

   - Design the system components for the extract/transform or conversion
   of data from source systems to the target application
   - Design system components which reconcile and audit the results of the
   extract/transform or conversion of data from source systems to the target
   application
   - Construct the extract/transform, transfer and audit components of the
   repositories mentioned earlier or data conversion programs through the use
   of extract development tools or custom developed procedures
   - Define and manage the manual data load procedures
   - Tuning and performance enhancements of queries and *DataStage ETL*

*Summary of Qualifications:*

   - Bachelor degree, preferably in Computer Science, and five (5) years of
   programming experience or five (5) years of programming experience and
   three (3) years of relevant business experience
   - Knowledge of programming languages, platforms, and data structures
   - Minimum experience of *5 years with InfoSphere DataStage ETL
   development. Additionally, working knowledge of other InfoSphere tools*,
   specifically Quality Stage and Information Analyzer, is preferred.
   - Minimum experience of *3 years with DB2 (preferred*) or other
   relational DBMS, including table structure and relationships, and load
   utilities
   - Ability to serve as a development lead on projects and mentor others
   - Knowledge and use of Data Modeling techniques both logical and
   physical is preferred
   - Excellent communication skills are required
   - Experience with custom Unix scripts is preferred
   - Experience with BASIC custom programming in DataStage is a plus
   - Working knowledge of *COBOL, DB2 and JCL on an IBM MVS mainframe* is a
   plus
   - Experience analyzing customer needs, designing new systems and/or
   modifying existing systems
   - Healthcare industry experience will be a plus
   - Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent
   projects
   - Experience in a position interpreting and communicating information
   orally and written
   - Experience in a position interacting with all levels of staff internal
   and external
   - Experience in a position requiring the ability to identify and solve
   problems
   - Experience in a position requiring the ability to organize and
   prioritize tasks
   - Excellent experience and knowledge across multiple business
   applications and source systems is preferred
