*Unix/Linux AdminLocation: Brooklyn, NY* *Duration: 6+* *Interview mode: Phone then F2F* *Tasks & Duties* •Develop System Design Specifications. •Develop and prepare documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches. •Develop specifications for databases, communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software configurations. •Develop plans for recovery of repository in case of a disaster, Tuning and configuration of *Veritas Netbackup*, platform for restoration of environment, critical applications, databases, and servers. •Develop, compile, maintain, and document configurations of the following: databases, servers, computers, security and network monitor systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and communication systems. •Develop System Documentation. •Develop operational and installation procedures for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software. •*Develop tools to automate various components of the UNIX infrastructure; administer the Storage Area Network the repository resides on; administer the UNIX environment on which the repository resides, * *Solid Programming ability in Ksh, Perl and C will be used for customization and enhancement of our UNIX environment.* •Develop detailed systems operations designs. •Perform System Design/Coding. •Work with MIS staff (i.e., managers, senior programmers, support staff, product manager) to program code implementation, enhancements and changes. •Create, test and maintain program code. •Design reports, audit trails/logs, security mechanisms. •Provide assistance to MIS technical support staff when they are unable to resolve a program, database, or IT issue by themselves. •Create tools to monitor backup environment ; create tools to enhance the performance of the backup software. •Provide general programming assistance to other MIS programmers/projects as may be needed. •Perform Testing/Evaluation. •Document troubleshooting problems that occur in this complex environment, review and contribute to planning the architecture of the environment. •Develop, implement, and monitor information technology quality assurance standards. •Track and monitor project deliverables using the appropriate performance tools. *Required Skills* *•Minimum 8 Years’ Experience with UNIX programming and performance and monitoring software in SUN Solaris and or IBM AIX environment.* *•Minimum 8 Years’ Experience designing document management systems.* •*Minimum 8 Years’ Experience designing Active Directory based on security.* *•Minimum 8 Years’ Experience with UNIX Network and UNIX Server security and intrusion and anomaly detection.* •Minimum 8 Years Experience with Host hardening and OS patch maintenance. •Minimum 8 Years Experience with Freeware security products. •Minimum 8 Years Experience designing 3 tiered applications.
