*Oracle DBALocation: Manhattan, NY* *Duration: 6+(USC or GC)* *Interview mode: Phone then F2F* *Assignment Details:* The successful candidate will be part of a team that supports the corporate *Oracle databases.* The candidate will install Oracle software, maintain databases across multiple platforms, perform modifications to databases, enforce database security, maintain database backup/recovery procedures, migrate database schema changes, engage in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, and manage highly-available production database instances for corporate systems. Off-hour support is required for production problem resolution, scheduled production database migrations, upgrades and patching. These databases are critical to the efficient operation of the systems used by various business entities throughout all of our client’s locations in New York. The responsibilities that come with this position include evaluating existing processes for possible refinement and working with development teams to establish a multi-year plan of activities requiring DBA services. *Skills & Requirements:* *•The candidate must have a strong customer focus and possess excellent technical, project management, listening, documentation and communication skills. * •Candidate must possess the skills and ability to learn quickly, see the bigger picture from detailed facts, assimilate new concepts and think analytically. •The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be required to interface with application developers, managers, directors, technology and planning personnel, and business users throughout the company. •A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related discipline is required, or equivalent experience. •*A minimum of 5 years of Oracle database administration experience is required. * *•The candidate must be able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while still meeting deadlines. * •The candidate must have experience administrating Oracle databases in the Linux, Windows and UNIX server environments. *•Candidate must be proficient in the use of Enterprise Manager Grid Control and RAC and have in-depth knowledge of SQL coding, Perl, Korn Shell, and Microsoft VBS coding.* The following are not required for this position but would be considered as a valuable asset in a potential candidate: Application development experience, knowledge of PeopleSoft version 9.1 (or later) and PeopleSoft Tools, and familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus.
