*The Data Warehouse Consultant will work on projects that require close
coordination with Business and Information Technology groups. Position
supports overall development and service delivery projects reporting to the
Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence Systems department.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for supporting the architecture and design of the data
warehouse, data marts and BI reports which will support various data
initiatives
Identify data warehousing issues and assist in their resolution
Review project work products, including project work plans, business
activity and information models, test plans, content storage design, and
application component design
Contributes to table and interface design and the development of logical and
physical data model/database, ETL processes and population and tuning of
databases/ETL processes/BI reports/queries while meeting business/user
requirements
Facilitates requirements definition and contributes to documentation of
project and system documentation
Code, test, implement, monitor ETL processes in our data warehouse
environment
Provide infrastructure support for the BI/ETL environment
Research and analyze various data source systems, applications and perform
data research/analysis
Provide project, system and other technical documentation as required
Provide off-hour support of BIS systems as necessary*

*Required skills include, but are not limited to:
2+ Sagent V 5.5.1, 4+ years ETL tools
4-7+ years of IT experience in developing full lifecycle implementations,
support, and upgrades.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the development and maintenance of data
warehouse/data mart and BI reporting applications
5+ years of Data Warehouse experience.
5+ years of relational database experience (SQL, tuning, optimizer,
relational concepts)
Strong Oracle and PL/SQL skills and relational database experience
Strong MS Windows OS knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communicate skills with both technical and
non-technical staff
Notes
1.        This is a senior developer position rather than a leadership
position.  The candidate must have knowledge of databases, data modeling,
ETL tools and testing as well as an understanding of all aspects of SDLC.
2.        The candidate must be familiar with relational database concepts
and database design for databases such as Oracle, DB2, i5 etc.
3.        The candidate must know how to performance tune large amounts of
data and how to schedule so that all processes are not scheduled at the same
time.
4.        The candidate must be familiar with data warehouse architecture
and the platforms that support them e.g. DataStage on Unix or Sagent on
Windows. The candidate must understand how the ETL tool relates to the
platform.
5.        The candidate must be able to design/build a data warehouse to
support BI reports.  They must be able to use ETL tools to get data from the
database to generate the reports.
6.        Although GSI currently uses Sagent, it will be migrating to other
tools in the future.  The candidate for this position does not have to know
Sagent, however, they must have ETL tool experience and be able to learn and
adapt to any ETL tool selected by the client.  Some of the most widely used
tools are Ab Initio, DataStage and Informatica.
7.        The candidate should have
a.      SQL experience
b.      Shell scripting (Unix, Perl) experience
c.       Experience using Oracle database utilities
d.      Experience working in matrixed environments
e.      On call availability (24x7) when needed
f.       Ability to adapt to new ETL tools e.g. Ab Initio, DataStage,
Informatica
g.      The ability to "add hock" prioritization.
h.      Adapt quickly to a varied structure, and be accessible
i.        Knowledge of how to "tune queries" / schedule
j.       Use Unix shell scripts
k.      Great Written and communication skills!!*
