This is a technical role within the KETM Program in Discovery Information.
This position (LD) will be an integral part of a team integrating multiple
databases into a single Knowledge Base used for decision-making. The LD will
be primarily responsible for leading the development team. This will include
making data model and architecture changes, integrating multiple data sets
into a single query interface, document management and visualization. This
role is also expected to understand the science and information requirements
driving the project. Teamwork with the Business Analyst, Project Manager,
Testers, Cortex Architect, and Domain Lead will be essential for success.

Degree in computer science with strong IT and informatics skills. Degree or
extensive practical experience in statistics and life science is a big plus.

- Seven plus years experience leading systems architecture of complex
distributed system; Minimum of 10 years of total experience in IT systems
development.
- Broad IS background in systems development which includes a strong track
record in leading application developers and delivering complex projects is
required. Experience leading a distributed team of developers is a big plus.

- In-depth knowledge of Java/J2EE and other frameworks and technologies and
systems architecture design experience utilizing those frameworks on BEA /
Oracle WebLogic is required.
- Core required skills include Java/J2EE, JPA, Spring, Weblogic, Eclipse,
Oracle 10-11G, Perl, Unix, Maven / Ant with Continuous Integration,
WSDL/XML, Web Services. System integration experience utilizing web services
/ ESB standards.
- Experience in system modeling and design utilizing UML.
- Excellent knowledge of Software Development processes and methodologies as
well as project management processes.
- Excellent documentation skills, communication and negotiation skills, both
written and verbal. Proven influencing abilities Ability to
interact/socialize and communicate with/to a diverse scientific user
community.
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment;
familiarity with code sharing and source control tools.
- Experience leading IT system architecture in R&D Pharmaceutical business
is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Text Mining technologies a big plus.
- Be able to utilize and comply with existing AstraZeneca standards and
blueprints on a project.
