Job descriptions: Job #1 Role: Sr. Oracle DBA Duration: 2+ months Location: Herndon, VA Locals highly preferred About the Position: The candidate will provide all data management functions, and be responsible for Oracle database support for SIR. The candidate will be in rotation with other team members to provide 24 X 7 supports. A strong data modeling/scripting skill is also highly desirable for this position. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Build database(s), maintain database§ baselines, support application requirements, testing and implementations Analyze and resolve, or recommend solutions to highly complex technical problems such as performance issues, integration of object-oriented relational database technology, data quality issues Provide 24 X 7 support on a periodic basis§ (requires carrying pager) Lead or participate in modeling initiatives§ (object, logical) and data analysis Create sound database physical design§ models from object or logical models Prepare status reports to accurately§ communicate progress; provide early notification of problems that could effect schedules, or the integrity or availability of data To be effective in§ this role, the Senior Database Administrator must stay abreast of state-of-the-art technologies in database technology and data management practices, and must be able to influence and educate project teams on the importance of good data management practices Qualifications: Must-Have Skills: 10+ years IT experience must 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience including§ building objects and maintaining production environments 5+ years of§ experience in Relational database concepts, relational logical modeling, best practices, and physical design 7+ years of experience in the IT industry,§ including full life cycle methodology, standard office products such as Word and Excel, and some application development 3+ years of Unix operating system§ experience including shell scripting and file management. 3+ years of§ using modeling tool, preferable ER/Studio Bachelor’s degree in Computer§ Science or a related field Expertise in working with High volume, and High§ Transaction databases Expertise of Autosys and its scripting to automate§ and schedule the various routine maintenance tasks Expertise in§ requirements gathering and Database Modeling using the various tools Knowledge of Mortgage Industry and its practices Expertise in Project§ Management from conceptualization through to its implementation using various tools and practices. The External Data platform team is responsible for support the maintenance of MS-SQL and Oracle backend databases associated with this platform. Administrator provides support for medium-to-high complexity applications. May create and develop software solutions to application errors reported. Carries a pager and responds to production requests, escalating unresolved issues as needed to proper personnel. Provides senior-level end-user support, which may include: providing systems administration assistance, coordinating stakeholder discussions, updating user documentation or conducting training.
