Position : Business Objects Technical Specialist. Location : Calgary, Canada Duration : 6 months Key Job Responsibilities: Business Objects Admin’ role is to provide security management, content life cycle management, and BOE XI system stability and architecture. Enhancing, administering, maintaining and evolving the Business Objects XI Enterprise. 1.Designs the Business Objects Enterprise Architecture, meeting all DSS architecture/infrastructure, high-availability ( SLA), disaster recovery, security corporate standards, clustering, fault-tolerance, fail over strategies, etc. Implement, maintain, and evolve the Business Objects Enterprise Architecture across all aspects of BI solutions development lifecycle. 2.Defines and documents the technical architecture of the BOE XI platform, including the physical components and their functionality. 3.Enterprise Product(s) installation, settings, tunings, configuration, best practices implementation. Evaluates, selects, tests, and assists in the optimization of hardware and resolves technical, functional, and performance related issues Provide information to management on emerging BO technologies. 4.Manage global upgrades and new product releases – keeping current with release levels and industry issues. - maintain scalability of XI landscape. Applying fixes/service packs. 5.Proactively monitoring and reporting on workload management; capacity and performance of the BOE. 6.Performance tuning - Run and monitor performance tests, isolate areas for improvement, implement tuning solutions. 7. Overall system performance. 8.Liaise with network administrators, analysts, developers, DBA’s, etc. to resolve issues in supported applications. 9.Assist in the planning and designing of the overall security model. 10.Maintaining a Windows AD security model. 11.Administer user access in BO enterprise applications. 12.Supporting the migration of objects from development through production environments (promotion process). 13.Research documentation, forums, technical support, and other resources for best practices, tuning enhancements, technical issues/resolutions, etc. 14.Production support of BOXI Enterprise Applications to SLA standards. 15.Participate in BO Technical Support/Elite support weekly meetings. 16.Escalate complex technical issues with the appropriate technical resources. 17.Analyze business technical requirements and provide feedback on feasibility, options and solving the technical requirements with BO infrastructure. 18.Works with project managers and business analysts to ensure tight fit between BI environment and business requirements. 19.Collaborate with technical leadership from individual project initiatives, and development areas. 20.Strong Communication: written and verbal (i.e. issues, status, solution documentation and presentations). Mentor other Administrator roles. Skills and Experience Requirements: Mandatory: 1.An expert understanding in low level BO XI system architecture and service communication; includes the ability to architect the system for failover and scalability based on business requirements, use cases, and usage estimates. 2.Proficient in OS-level administration as it pertains to configuring and tuning the XI systems and services. 3.An expert understanding in use of the Metadata Manager and Audit tools. 4.An expert understanding in BOE XI tool trouble shooting and tuning. 5.An expert understanding in the BOE XI Security model from design, to implementation to growth. 6.Advanced knowledge of the enterprise standard network, application, and security approaches and methods. 7.Specifically for XI, expert in designing and modeling user security in the BOE XI application, app server security, and web server security. 8.Specific experience with installation/configuration/implementation and support in a Windows environment (NT, 2003). 9.Java/WebSphere, and SQL Server 2005. 10.Excellent communication skills. 11. Excellent data analysis skills. 12.Superior interpersonal skills. Preferred:.
