DESCRIPTION:

            Application-centric UNIX engineering position:  The UNIX
engineering position exists within an Infrastructure/Shared Services
organization but focuses primarily on the delivery of high-quality
infrastructure designs to support complex applications and middleware
components.  The environment is highly dynamic, and the UNIX engineer will
contribute to multiple projects in parallel in either technology leadership
or subject matter expert roles.  Maturation of infrastructure and business
processes will be important activities alongside project-based work.

MUST:

·         Demonstrate strong analytical skills at the technology and
business levels

·         Demonstrate initiative in personal development as well as
professional projects

·         Demonstrate technology leadership aspects of previous projects

·         Demonstrate an understanding of complex projects, deliverables,
and schedules

·         Demonstrate the ability to function in a small-team environment
among UNIX engineers

·         Demonstrate the ability to function in a dynamic environment

·         Demonstrate the ability to think beyond tactical/immediate
deliverables to assess and mitigate risks and costs

·         Demonstrate understanding of Disaster Recovery principles

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience in the documentation
of new processes/procedures

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (Server) in a data center environment

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with one or more
scripting/automation languages (Ksh/bash/Perl preferred)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with VMware ESX/ESXi
3.5 or higher in a data center environment

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio)

SHOULD:

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of AIX 5.3
and/or Solaris 9/10

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with platform
migrations of middleware/application components (AIXàLinux, SolarixàLinux,
etc.)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to SAN/storage
technologies (EMC DMX is preferred)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Oracle database
technologies (10g, 11g, RAC, OEM/GC preferred)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience in the documentation
of existing/legacy systems for which documentation may be absent or
scattered

·         Demonstrate an understanding of some quality/maturity methodology
(ITIL, Six Sigma, etc.)

MAY:

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to JBoss, WebLogic, or
other J2EE application server from an installation/support perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to webMethods ESB or
other Enterprise Service Bus technology from an installation/support
perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Informatica (ETL or
MDM) from an installation/support perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with automated
provisioning, patching, and compliance-checking/-enforcement tools (BMC
BladeLogic is preferred, other tools will be considered)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Cisco UCS (blades) as
a computing platform

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to SAP applications from
a support/infrastructure perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with Microsoft Project

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to HP Project and
Portfolio Management (PPM)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to EMC Documentum

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Business Intelligence
(BI) components

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to centralized
scheduling tools (BMC Control-M is preferred, other tools will be
considered)
