*Job Duration: 22 Months*** *Client:** State of Ohio BWC*** *Rate: **$50 – 55 /hr on C2C* * * *Job Description: * *Candidate must have proven experience to perform the following duties:* *Required Experience:* *Mainframe* Ø The *Lead consultant* will be responsible for all phases of the z/OS operating system including installing and configuring new releases of the operating system using server packs and applying maintenance fixes and Hypers. This also includes troubleshooting problems and researching fixes. CICS technical experience and knowledge would be a plus. In depth experience is required with expert knowledge of: Ø Assembler, COBOL, language environments (LE), UNIX/USS and JCL Ø ISPF configuration Ø LPAR Management Ø IPCS and dump analysis Ø IPL procedures Ø HMC/HCD Ø JES2 Ø RACF Ø Coupling Facility Management Ø Workload Manager Ø z/OS Utilities Ø SMPE install procedures Ø SDSF Ø Performance analysis and tuning using RMF and SMS records Ø The Consultant will also be the *Chief Architect* in designing and specifying hardware upgrades for the Z series mainframe and related peripherals. This includes knowledge of the performance characteristics of the current models, determining memory requirements, the number of FICON channels to balance with traffic as well as the number and use of OSA cards for communication. This will require working with vendors and other Consultants to develop specifications and cost analysis for new solutions. The individual will present solutions to IT Managers, Directors and CIO as required. Detail knowledge of disk and tape technology is also preferred which includes: Ø Library management Ø Encryption and encryption key management Ø IBM 3590 tape robot Ø DS8000 storage configuration and provisioning for z/OS Ø The individual will lead strategic planning for growth and the future architectural environments based on BWC needs and technology development in processors, storage and communications. This individual will design future configurations and obtain budget pricing for those infrastructure enhancements that may be implemented over s 3 to 4 year planning horizon. Ø The Consultant will need an in depth understanding of mainframe communications protocols tools such as VTAM, SNA, TCP/IP, packet tracing, VIPA routing, Enterprise Extender, communication gateways and TCP/IP sockets interfaces. Ø The person will need to have a background in disaster recovery planning and implementation. Sufficient knowledge will be needed to adapt DR techniques as technology changes dictate. Recommendations to management will be expected to enhance the overall effectiveness of BWC’s DR efforts. Ø The individual will be expected to plan conduct formal mentoring activities for other systems programmers in the department as well as other applications staff that utilize mainframe skills. Ø The individual will be expected to lead project activities for the department and agency as required helping others complete project tasks and meet deadlines.
