Our customer is seeking a Cognos Report Writer. *Overview*: - The position of Cognos Developer is for an IT professional with 3+ years in the design, development, implementation and administration of COGNOS cubes and reports in Cognos 8/ReportNet *Responsibilities*: - Support the business reporting needs by designing, developing and implementing various forms of informational reporting, including testing and migration - Support the business, testing and verification needs by running informational queries - Support both business users and IT users within the organization Educate/mentor end users with the appropriate Cognos BI tool(s) - Administer and maintain the Cognos environment, including security - Develop and maintain end user and technical documentation - Support and troubleshoot the Cognos environment - QA deliverables and research data for correctness and/or anomalies - Scripting of SQL for investigating, researching and verifying results of queries and reports - Utilize UNIX commands to support basic functionality with files and to support the Cognos configuration and environment - Design, build, test, and implement reports in support of the Collections System as needed in support of internal customer Administer the Cognos suite of products - Perform system analysis, documentation, user training and support, and system maintenance - Translate reporting requirements and the data model and be able to convert into a Framework Manager Model to meet reporting requirements - Support users in problem resolution including troubleshooting of operational/data issues - Develop and maintain supporting documentation - Provide analytical and decision support for the implantation and on-going enhancements including application testing, and identifying and resolving complex issues *Qualifications*: - Experience with balanced scorecards and executive dashboards - Data modeling and dimensional modeling experience, including an understanding of the star schema - Experience managing DEV, TEST & PROD environments and migration across these environments - The position of Cognos Developer is for an IT professional with 3+ years in the design, development, implementation and administration of COGNOS cubes and reports in Cognos 8/ReportNet - 3+ years experience with the Cognos 8 Framework Manager/ReportNet suite of tools on UNIX as both metadata Modeler and Report Developer - 1+ years experience with writing SQL queries to validate and research data in the tables - Extensive understanding of Multidimensional Analysis - Financial Database Development/Maintenance experience - Skills in design, development, testing, implementation and migration of reports in Cognos 8 and ReportNet - Oracle database architecture and terminology - Understand Data Warehousing best practices and associated methodologies - In depth knowledge of the different types of data stores that make up a complete DW environment (staging, ODS, etc.) - Knowledge of UNIX commands to be able to navigate directories, invoke shell scripts, move and copy files - Experience with Oracle 9i or 10g - Ability to read Relational and Multidimensional models and translate this into the development of the metadata layer in Framework Manager in conjunction with the logical and physical data models - Administration of the Portal, Users, Groups, Security, etc. - This position will provide technical and analytical support to IT and business group(s) for various departments within the organization - Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with senior business and technical IT management - Strong Financial Background and working with the financial community - Working with Relational and Multidimensional data models - Work well independently or as a team member - Relevant Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience - Cognos Certification is a plus *Thanks & Best regards* RANI| Recruiter|Oberon IT 1300 W.
