Applicants should have a solid knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS (JQuery) with focus on cross-browser compatibility and semantic markup. He or she should also have strong object-oriented development skills and experience developing rich, highly dynamic, client-side applications. MVC architecture familiarity is assumed. You will work within a team of front-end developers that take on new development initiatives and platform enhancements across sears.com, kmart.com and the associated portfolio of brand properties. You will be responsible for front-end development and client-side interactions using HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, RSS, JavaScript and other related interactive technologies. Your responsibilities will include leveraging best practices and accurately estimating and tracking your time across multiple simultaneous projects. Currently, we are interested in candidates with 3+ years of demonstrable experience and who have had a background of working on large-scale web initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional programming skills, an understanding of user-centered design principles, and the ability turn business and user requirements into elegant user interfaces and compelling interactive experiences. It is assumed that Web Developers have the Core Competencies and have mastered the responsibilities outlined below: Generate and maintain front-end code Work on front-end development activities, solutions, methods, and practices. Develop new and effective interactive design solutions on time and in scope. Collaborate with UE team to deliver on new business initiatives and platform enhancements. Assist in developing methodologies, standards and best practices for the group Research and recommend appropriate interactive technologies Develop reusable code libraries Conduct code walkthroughs and quality assurance with development teams Develop web accessible and browser compatibility code Strong HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, Javascript programming skills. Proficient in a server-side language, preferably Ruby on Rails or PHP. Basic understanding of interaction design and user-centered design methods & practices Professional experience collaborating with design and development teams on large-scale projects. Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks across multiple projects, under tight deadlines. Enjoy working closely with others, respectful of other perspectives. Expert conflict resolution skills and being able to negotiate with stakeholders. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across multiple projects, under tight deadlines. Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage complex projects in a timely manner Willingness to switch gears quickly and be flexible to work on concurrent projects. Ability to create clean, precise browser-compatible code. Skills Required: Passion for building a great product that everyone will love Expert knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS(jQuery) with focus on cross-browser compatibility and semantic markup. Very strong object-oriented development skills. Must be fluent in front-end scripting languages (JavaScript), including handwritten AJAX and jQuery Experience in a rapid prototyping or agile environment. Experience with User Experience projects and workflow is a plus. 3+ years development experience. Familiar with unit testing, design patterns and component lifecycle development. Experience with CMS systems Expert knowledge of front-end debugging tools Must have a good sense of visual aesthetics. Ability to partner with 3rd party development groups effectively and efficiently.
