Role: Sr.
EMC/Cisco/Systems Engineer
Duration:6
months
Location: San
Jose, CA
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install and maintain hardware – predominately EMC and Cisco
product lines. • Install and maintain system software. Install patches and
updates as necessary to ensure that stability and security compliance objectives
are met. • Administer IP and storage networks. • Manage power and cable
infrastructures following established best practices. • Responsible for the
setup and configuration of EMC, VMware, and Cisco products. • Provide
troubleshooting and break/fix support. • Support data migrations as necessary
for equipment rotations. • Work with asset management team to maintain
accurate inventories for all lab assets. • Support lab change requests and
provide strong communication to lab customers for status. • Assist engineers
with tactical deliverables. • Monitor performance/utilization and make
recommendations for improvement. • Serve as primary point of contact for all
questions/issues pertaining to lab activity.
SKILLS
• Understanding of datacenter physical requirements - power,
cooling, cabling etc. • Experience with design of datacenter server, network,
and storage architectures. • 3+ years experience with Microsoft and
Redhat/SuSE Linux operating systems. • 3+ years experience with SAN, NAS, and
IP networking administration. Cisco experience is a plus • 1+ year experience
with VMware products. • Must be willing to take ownership of issues and
resolve them with a sense of urgency. • Strong understanding of storage
implementations (SAN, NAS, and BuRA). • Administrative expertise with EMC
Symmetrix, CLARiiON, VNX, and Cisco products is preferred. • SQL or other DB
admin experience is a plus.
