Position : .Net Developer Location : Birmingham, AL Duration : 6 Months JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is looking for an ASP.NET web developer/programmer with excellent skills and experience in developing complete web applications. A complete working knowledge of ASP.NET, HTML and JavaScript/jQuery is a must. Database experience using MS SQL is also required. Responsible for 1) The development and maintenance of web-based software applications (Internet and intranet) and 2) Management of the Ektron CMS build /deploy process. The web developer is expected to be able to determine customer requirements, write and review software specifications according to company standards and create new or modify existing software or tailor third-party applications to satisfy those requirements. This individual performs moderate to complex tasks with limited guidance. This individual will participate as a member of the web development team and will add new skills as required to accomplish assigned tasks. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develop and document software application requirements and specifications to our client’s standards in collaboration with end users. 2. Code, test and debug web-based software using HTML, and .NET. 3. Attend staff meetings, report status to supervisor and manage projects to a timeline. 4. Collaborate with other development projects inside IT and diversify skill sets as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline. 2. Four (4) or more years related work experience coding in ASP.NET 3. Passion for programming, the internet and all things technical (you need to be a geek) KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 1. Understanding of object oriented programming and design principals in C# 2. 2+ years of experience working with.NET Framework, including the following: a. The difference of passing data by reference and by value b. The role of .NET Generics and how to use them c. Creating custom User Controls d. Exposing data using Web Services, REST, and WCF e. Using Server Controls in source view and code behind f. ASP.NET Event Lifecycle g. Retrieving and manipulating data sets with LINQ h. Retrieving and manipulating XML with XML Document i. Data Binding and pagination j. Understanding of software design patterns (Observer, MVC, Factory Pattern, Dependency Injection, etc.) 3. Experience with client side programming using jQuery. 4. IIS6 & 7, SQL Server 2008+, Visual Studio 2008+ REQUIRED SKILLS 1. Expert Proficiency in HTML, tables, and style sheets/CSS, JavaScript/jQuery and W3C standards. 2. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills 3. Effective customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and time pressures. 4. Must be able to self-direct and operate independently within a team environment. 5. Understanding of Web site performance best practices developed by Google and Yahoo, as well as understanding tools used to measure and adjust.
