1. Java Developer Location: San Diego Duration: 6+ months JOB DESCRIPTION: build a web-based billing and ticketing application using Java technology. The contractor will work independently, but has available a team of application developers to address questions about our specific technology stack. The developer will be required to build a database schema and web interfaces that include user roles and workflow. The programmer will be responsible for the integration of functional systems with each other and with the campus systems to ensure consistent and accurate data analysis and reporting. This position requires extensive experience with multiple programming languages and technologies such as Java / J2EE, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, the SEAM framework and SQL. The developer will be responsible for technical design, application development, testing and technical implementation for the project. Candidate requirements - Strong communications skills both verbal and written - Enthusiastic about working in an academic environment - Demonstrated expertise in Java/J2EE/Javascript and related technologies and tools such as Eclipse, JBOSS, Tomcat, jBPM, BIRT, jLink, Spring MVC, or Struts, AJAX. - Strong practical understanding of the four principal OOPS concepts: Abstraction, Polymorphism, Inheritance, and Encapsulation. - Experience building web applications using a framework such as SEAM. - Ability to work in an application development environment using version control (SVN) and wikis on windows and Linux operating system. - Practical knowledge of application security methods to prevent SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks. - Demonstrated knowledge and experience with SQL-based RDBM systems. Including the ability to create normalized schema, write queries, stored procedures, set up connection, generate ER diagrams and utilize a connection pool. - Solid understanding of how to apply strategic thinking to minimize development time and effort to achieve objectives under pressure to meet deadlines. - Ability to prepare effective technical and non-technical documentation and user training materials. - Ability to communicate technical information to non technical users. - Demonstrated experience working independently and as a team member throughout all stages of software development as follows: Prototype stage: design and code: Beta stage: deploy, test and debug applications; Maintenance stage: develop procedures to test and verify programs, supply bug fixes, version support, and resolve problems. - Ability to understand billing and ticketing business processes. - Very strong analytic, inductive and deductive reasoning skills. Demonstrated skill at problem identification and solving. Able to research issues and problems to develop recommendations and implement agreed upon solutions. - Demonstrated ability to independently manage a project's technical developments.
