*Position : Network Engineer*

*Key responsibilities and tasks:*

Under the general guidance of the Chief, Infrastructure Services, and
supervision by the
Manager, Network and Desktop Services, the incumbent is responsible for the
Client
Local and Wide Area network infrastructure, its design and security. The
incumbent
is to design, manage and review all aspects of network computing technology
facilities including routers, switches, cabling system and software
components. Major
investments and recurring expenses are made on computing and technology
facilities
and these facilities underpin the Client ICT strategy in making available
to HQ and all
CO’s access to Internet, Intranet, corporate applications, and data.
The incumbent is required to follow overall networking and security industry
developments, and to provide advice on and initiate best practices. The key
tasks and
responsibilities include:
Undertake network design, security, planning and management of network
technology facilities at HQ, IP Addressing plan, DNS, DHCP and Web proxy
services;
Support network management software and appliances, including but not
limited to
Cisco Works LAN Management Solution and Cisco Wireless Control System
Network and network security troubleshooting;
Optimizing and maintaining Client HQ LAN infrastructure;
Design, plan and implement LAN upgrades and infrastructure modifications and
repair;
Support private WAN connections to other UN agencies and Client partners;
Implement and maintain firewall policy to protect corporate network;
Keep abreast of networking and security technology industry trends and
developments, and to implement upgrades or enhancements to meet Client
business’
needs;
Lead efforts in defining network security strategy and requirements, and
issue
guidelines;
Provide advice and expertise to Country Office ICT staff on networking
technology and
security;

Client relies heavily on LAN and Internet facilities to communicate with
country office,
donors and program countries. The networking and security systems are
needed to
provide secure and reliable corporate computing services and communication
tools to
Client. Errors in this function and failure to properly implement
networking facility have

severe impact on Internet access, email, and corporate applications for HQ
and CO's.
Minimum Qualifications (Network Engineer):

Certification

*Minimum requirements*

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification

*Work Experience*

Minimum 3 years of technology experience with increasing
responsibility and experience in supporting complex networking technology
arena.
Experience in supporting and maintaining Cisco Systems
networking and security hardware and software in a complex environment


*Skills and languages*

Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in computer
networking and cabling infrastructure
Excellence knowledge in Cisco networking and security hardware
and software
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows server 2003 or later and various
flavors of Unix Operating Systems an advantage
Fluent in English
Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation and writing skills
