*Position: QA Analyst* *Location: Carlsbad, CA* *Duration: 6 Months Contract* * * *Qualifications:* ** Locals are preferred.* ** Must be convenient for F2F discussion.* **** *General Summary:* Working in a team environment, the QA Analyst is responsible for requirements analysis, test case development, effort estimates, and test execution of new software applications as well as application enhancements. The QA Analyst is also responsible for research related to Change Requests as well as regression testing of multiple applications. The QA analyst works closely with the QA manager, project manager, business analyst, and software development team and provides timely status updates on testing progress. In addition, the QA Analyst trains, supports, and mentors new hires as well as on-site and off-site contract resources.**** **** *Essential duties & responsibilities:* *1. Requirement Analysis (10%). With no oversight performs the following:* **· **Participates in all relevant requirements meetings**** **· **Participates in all relevant software design meetings**** **· **Provide testability feedback by reviewing and analyzing project and maintenance requirements documents**** **· **Communicate requirements and assign testing tasks to on- and off-site resources**** *2. Test Scripting (35%). With no oversight, performs the following:* **· **Authors detailed functional test cases in Quality Center environment**** **· **Authors detailed regression test cases in Quality Center environment**** **· **Authors detailed integration test cases in Quality Center environment**** **· **Authors detailed test suits for the web services using Soap UI **** **· **Authors detailed scripts to automate regression test sets using QTP descriptive programming**** **· **Ensures all functional requirements are covered by test cases* *** **· **Designs a requirements coverage matrix to demonstrate full coverage**** **· **Reports test scripting progress to the SDLC team**** **· **Schedules reviews of test plans/scripts with the SDLC team and gains approval by presenting test strategies**** *3. Test Execution (35%). With no assistance, performs the following:* **· **Sets up and executes test cases from within the Quality Center environment**** **· **Sets up and executes automated service-level test suites within Soap UI**** **· **Selects appropriate test cases for execution on every given QA build**** **· **Reports to the SDLC team on test execution status**** **· **Resolves or seeks assistance on any road blocks encountered during test case execution**** **· **Supervises, track, and report test case execution of on- and off-site resources**** **· **Keeps manager informed and up-to-date on status, events and other critical information**** **· **Encourages and maintains open, two-way communication with all SDLC team members**** **** *4. Defect Tracking (20%). With no oversight, performs the following:* **· **Owns quality of a number of business applications by documenting all issues encountered during testing**** **· **Documents defects encountered during software testing using the Quality Center environment**** **· **Assigns severity status to all reported defects**** **· **Reports defect count and status for assigned projects and maintenance releases**** **· **Leads defect triage meetings and provides insight on steps to reproduce, expected results, and actual results**** **· **Supervises and reviews defect entries by on- and off-site resources**** **** *Organization Relationships:* Reports to Quality Assurance Manager. Directly collaborates with the Information Technology teams – especially Application Development and Business Analyst teams.**** **** *Required qualifications:* *Knowledge, skills & abilities:* **· **Capable of working and thriving in a fast-paced, integrated-team environment, using both agile and waterfall methodologies**** **· **Outstanding oral and written communication skills and ability to adapt message to both technical and non-technical audiences* *** **· **Proven problem-solving and logical analytical skills, with ability to resolve complex problems using an organized, systematic approach* *** **· **Expert knowledge of the HP Quality Center environment**** **· **Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, including Microsoft Project**** **· **Working knowledge of HP QTP descriptive programming, Soap UI, and Groovy scripts**** **· **Knowledge of process analysis techniques**** **· **Knowledge of database design, implementation, utilization **** **· **Ability to perform moderately complex database queries using SQL**** **· **Strong understanding of web services and how to test them **** **· **Working knowledge of Selenium automated testing framework and products (preferred)**** **· **Ability to assign, measure, and report tasks pertained to junior QA analysts (preferred)**** **** *2. Minimum certifications/educational level:* **· **Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar field.**** **** *3. Experience: * **· **5+ years of Quality Assurance and System/Software Validation experience working through all stages of the Software Testing Life Cycle – to include requirements and design review; test plan development; estimation and scheduling; test design; test case and test script development; test data creation/acquisition; test automation; creation of requirements traceability matrix (RTM) from functional requirements document (FRD); test execution and defect reporting; test results reporting; and test/defect metrics tracking and reporting.**** **· **1+ years of experience in test automation development and maintenance, with a strong preference toward experience with HP QTP descriptive programming in a multi-tier, browser-based, web application environment**** **· **Experience with service-level testing and test automation using Soap UI**** **· **Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Microsoft Project**** **· **Experience with Selenium suite of products (preferred)*** * **· **Experience creating process flows (preferred)**** **** *4.
