Job Title: Netezza DBA Location: Schaumburg, IL Duration: 12 months No. of Positions: 1 Description: 6+ years of experience in IT, 4+ years in Datawarehouse and BI environment 1+ Year(s) experience as Netezza DBA Atleast 3+ years DBA experience Prior experience on DB2 UDB, Oracle and/or SQL server 2008 would be a plus. Excellent knowledge of Netezza Architecture and system internals, including updates and features on new versions Excellent data modeling and data architecture knowledge with logical and physical data model knowledge Good infrastructure and network knowledge to troubleshoot potential infrastructure issues Consulting on use/relevance of Netezza for projects, future initiatives, providing thought leadership on the Netezza appliance platform Very Strong SQL knowledge and troubleshooting skills on SQL Experience with ETL tools like Informatica power center, SSIS and Reporting/Analytics tools like SAS or Business Objects would be an advantage. SQL optimization and query plan / execution optimization for adhoc queries, ETL procedures, BO queries, SAS packages/queries etc. Expertise in using bulk load with NZLoad and any other data utilities, doing import and export of data and databases from and to Netezza environment Good knowledge of Netezza compliant SQL development tools like Aginity Participate in the production software deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies. Will provide production support for the Netezza database appliance Manage all Netezza database appliances ? DEV, QA/TEST, PRODUCTION Monitoring of servers, Archiving and back-up planning & Disaster recovery planning (Setup and Manage backups, recovery and DR) User management, roles management and security control on the database and surrounding applications like ETL-INFORMATICA service accounts, SAP-BUSINESS OBJECTS service accounts, SAS service accounts and other applications interfacing with Netezza Create and maintain user profiles and groups consistent with security restrictions and performance considerations. Coordinate with IT Security as required. Software/hardware integration planning and will coordinate troubleshooting and make recommendations for the configuration Excellent knowledge on Work load management within Netezza and query load/concurrency management Research best practices and provide pre- and post-implementation documentation. Maintain awareness of new Netezza releases, patches and upgrades. Work closely with user areas to assure that their needs are being met. Installation, Administration, and Support of the software in conjunction with data center/infrastructure team and IBM tech support. Monitor storage growth and work with user areas to develop purge criteria. Coordinate with other IT groups on performance, storage issues, etc. Coordinate with 'power users' / Projects to schedule/prioritize production loads/jobs. Document operational processes and recovery procedures. Maintain environment configuration information. Work independently to resolve issues and escalate to management and other teams as needed.
