The completion of this work requires engagement from a small number of associates with key business & technical knowledge. Reassigning these associates to help support the FSD Roadmap work leaves capacity gaps in other day to day operations including a UX designer/front end developer. *Top Skills:* * Formal UX design experience. * Usability testing * Rapport / communication skills (requirements gathering). *Job Description:* Position Description The User Experience (UX) Designer / Front-End Developer will: -Under general supervision, collaborates with business and technical teams to advocate for and develop user-centered and interaction concepts. -Gathers and understands business requirements and user needs specific to new or existing features, functionality, content and organizational structure. -Understands user needs through research such as heuristics, usability testing, focus groups, web analytics and competitor evaluations. -Designs, develops and conducts usability testing scenarios to understand and validate user needs throughout the lifecycle of projects. -Partners with technical teams to understand technical capabilities of business requirements. -Develops technology strategies and internal roadmaps for platform and application integration. -Identifies and recommends features, functionality and specific interactions based on analysis of business goals and user needs. -Translates business needs and user needs while incorporating best practices and understanding system technical and execution capabilities. -Creates user requirement specifications, such as personas, scenarios, task analysis, flowcharts and organization and navigation models. -May develop components (iconography, front-end components, etc.). -Gathers and incorporates feedback from stakeholders, end users, and technical and design teams to validate user experience proposals. -Creates alternatives and makes recommendations for final design. -Works with others (e.g., designers and writers) to create final user experience artifacts for development. -After launch, monitors internal data and feedback to recommend and prioritize improvements for future phases. -Provides input to technical teams during development phase to make updates. -Conducts user testing during construction to validate design and make adjustments as necessary. -Provides input and expertise towards the development of a variety of user experience design principles, best practices and processes. -Gathers information and makes recommendations for the creation and evolution of user experience style guide. -Actively engages in user experience community (experts), keeps abreast of emerging technologies and attends conferences to evaluate and apply industry best practices. -Collaborates within team and other departments to leverage and share ideas and recommendations to apply broadly across multiple channels. -Assesses user experience (shadowing, general feedback-oriented focus groups, research, etc.) and recommends improvements. -Requires 4-6 years of experience *Design Skills / Knowledge* - Create high-level and/or detailed user interface specifications consisting of deliverables such as wireframes, navigation designs, user flows, user interaction rules, and working prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas from concept through final design - Design user interfaces with the goal of optimizing and enhancing user efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction - Assist in the front-end implementation of product solutions and enhancements - Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale, potential usability challenges, and details of the UX design process to team members and clients - Define solutions from the user’s perspective while effectively balancing business goals, technical constraints and project objectives - Document, communicate, and advocate design solutions through dialogue with internal staff, written and verbal presentations, and UI specifications - Work within established standards, guidelines, and paradigms for existing applications *Additional Skills:* Other Roles and Responsibilities - Provide user experience direction and support across multiple projects and applications - Actively communicate status and issues to UX Lead and Project Managers - Assist in socializing the user experience team’s activities, roles, and responsibilities to both technical and non-technical groups within the organization - Assist in socializing front-end development best practices - Participate in the gathering and/or validation of user requirements *Qualifications* - Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) - Minimum 3-5 years' experience - Strong knowledge of user interface and functional design - Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript - Experience with front-end JS frameworks & libraries (extJS, jQuery, jQuery UI, Ember, etc.) -
