You will be part of a team that is responsible for architecture, design, administration and maintenance of all Linux-based servers, storage and underlying infrastructure for a large web-based e-commerce site. *Responsibilities:* - Perform both basic and advanced Red Hat Linux administration tasks. - Communicate effectively with internal customers and co-workers at both the technical and non-technical levels. - Participate in capacity planning, performance measurement, server and storage design. - Lead or participate in one or more projects from planning to execution. - Play a key role in daily management of data backups and offsite DR facility replication and readiness. - Possessing a high level of versatility is critical to the success of this position. - Participate in on-call rotation approximately once every 5-7 weeks - Knowledge in a broad set of technologies including the latest in virtualization, tiered storage, replication, Linux, VMware, EMC, HP, backup strategies, SAN design / DR Replication, etc. *(all are not requirements).* *Qualifications:* - 8+ years of implementing and administering Linux-based systems with a focus on virtualized Red Hat Linux systems - Working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, network protocols, web and database servers. - Ability to diagnose production issues and take corrective actions quickly. - Experience building automated backup, monitoring and alerts. - Strong Preference given to candidates with previous experience working in Sox and PCI compliant environments *(not required)*. - Understanding of High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts. - Familiarity with network design and management including performance metrics. *Exposure to any of the following would be helpful, but are NOT required: * - Awk, SEd, grep, find, NIS, winbind, Sendmail SNMP, Syslog, Shell, Perl, Big Brother, Site Scope, Nagios, cacti, SNMP based tools, splunk, Database: Oracle 10g RAC, MySQL, SQL Server.
