Business Analyst

Vernon hills, IL (FTF Interview Is MUST After The Phone Screen)

6 Months Contract

Business Analyst with UML and use case development.  The key to this
role is the BA skills + the experience working with scientists – if
someone is searching for this they could look for BA’s with LIMS
experience or w/the scientific buzzwords listed in the bolded section
below (that is direct from the hiring manager.) – They would need to
be onsite in Vernon hills, iL but don’t need to be local right now.
H-1 okay.

If you have anyone on this let me know. This is pretty niche but very
winnable if we find the right person.

Would like extensive BA skills and experience utilizing some of the
most established tools/techniques and methods in the software
development industry (i.e. UML, RUP, etc.) Background in the Bio
domain is a plus. This role will be working directly with our MP R&D
chemical and biology scientists/engineers to capture the requirements,
so having Biology and scientific background (such as chromatography,
pathology, toxicology along with the related lab equipment and
analytical software tools they are using) would help.

This role will likely be extended at least thru end of 2014.

Job Description:

Analyze complex business processes. Identify, evaluate, develop and/or
redesign systems and procedures to meet user requirements on large
initiatives. Create detailed written user requirements for developers
on large projects. Provide consultation to customers on business
process redesign. Assist in the development of system documentation
and training materials as well as training processes

Own small/medium size projects, demonstrate strong business knowledge,
require limited direction, give moderate guidance to others, handle
complex problems, possess strong knowledge of SDLC

1) Gather, understand and document business objectives, specifications
and requirements on medium/large size projects.

2) Develop, and execute unit/system test cases, scripts and plans.
Facilitate testing activities within the team.

3) Define, design and document business flows, use cases and processes
for medium/large projects.

4) Define and articulate business rules required for data accuracy and
consistency. Define and resolve data quality issues. Act as the
primary contact for the data management team/process

5) Provide support on applications supported within the organization.
Mentor/train junior team members.

6) Identify, analyze, propose and document appropriate solutions for
problems and issues that may impact the project. Identify and
understand broader business impact. Determine solutions and escalate
when appropriate. Use technical tools (queries, process maps, etc) for
problem resolution.

7) Understand and follow appropriate SDLC, quality validation
processes and application processes.

8) Communicate status, solutions and concerns. Disseminate information
in a timely manner within the team and across functions. Establish and
maintain relationships within the business or function.

9) Provide cross-functional and business knowledge to develop business
system and process alternatives. Provide strong knowledge of an
enterprise/ cornerstone Lifescience R&D systems (such as Empower,
OpenLab, etc)

10) Train others as appropriate on specific area of business or
systems expertise. Assist in development of training materials and/or
conduct training.


Job Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the application development process within an
FDA regulated environment. Strong knowledge of relational databases
concepts. Familiarity with business process flow and/or entity
relationship modeling. Strong communication (verbal/written/listening)
skills. Good organizational skills. Demonstrated focus on quality.
Must be detail oriented and able to work within a team setting.
Medical Products and Scientific R&D knowledge and experience a plus,
including the followings:

1. Ability to collect, track, analyze, systematize and abstract the information

2. Ability to understand the business problem, perform analysis and
translate it into the workable solution

3. Ability to effectively communicate, lead and drive the discussion,
ability to ask the right questions

4. Ability to develop key documents (user requirements, functional
requirements, use cases) and diagrams

5. Ability to raise, track and resolve business issues

6. Ability to translate user and functional requirements into
high-level specs and test cases

Bachelor degree preferred or relevant work experience in systems or
business. 7+ years’ experience in systems support/development applying
systems solutions to business problems. Experience in system testing,
problem resolution, and training.
