All of the wireframe designs are in place but they need someone who can go in and design and develop this database. . They seek to appoint a contract/temporary full-time Web Developer. This position will serve a term of no more than six months. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong interest in front-end development and data integration to build an application that requests, processes, and converts XML data drawn from historical documents for presentation on the Web. The developer will conceptualize, design, document, and implement a configurable front-end web application for the online publication of structured XML documents; integrate an existing back-end XML database with a separately designed website; work closely with the Web Team to ensure that the application is strategically designed and developed to ensure reliable behavior and compliance with local best practices. The successful candidate will have significant, demonstrable experience with front-end web development, including: the ability to write apps from the ground up using PHP, JavaScript and JQuery (we don’t use Wordpress or Drupal); expertise in developing HTML5/CSS3 from comprehensive layouts; in-depth knowledge of RESTful web services; and a solid grounding in GIT version control and application documentation.
