*Position: Senior IT Security Analyst * *Duration - 6 months* *Location: Milpitas, CA* Description - *Senior IT Security Analyst* As an Information Security Analyst you will use your knowledge and experience in Information Security to help secure the company's systems and applications which are mission critical -- identifying potential weaknesses, assessing risk and outlining remediation strategies. In this role you will work with diverse areas of the company, helping them safely utilize external and internal tools. *Primary Responsibilities* - Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information residing in corporate and customer databases, workstations, servers, and other systems. - Monitor VPNs, server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and implement plans for resolution. - Manage connection security for local area networks, wide area networks, company Web sites, corporate intranets/extranets/portals, and e-mail communications. - Plan, design, and implement all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, biometrics, and anti-virus software. - Assess the effectiveness, review for relevancy and enforce all IT security policies and procedures, including those for end users, network procedures, and legal compliance. - Oversee enforcement of policies and procedures for system security administration and user system access, based on industry-standard best practices. - Recommend and deploy additional security products and tools, or enhancements to existing tools, to detect violations of network security measures. - Ensure the security of data transferred internally. - Ensure that the appropriate patches, hot fixes, and service packs are installed on company-owned or licensed software in a timely manner. - Control user logon procedures and password management practices. - Design, perform, and/or oversee penetration testing of all systems in order to identify system vulnerabilities. - Design and implement security system and end user activity audits. - Propagate security awareness among employees. - Assist in designing and implementing disaster recovery plans for operating systems, databases, network connections and protocols, servers, and software applications. - Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts. - Provide on-call security support to all end users. *Experience and Qualifications* - College diploma or university degree in the field of information security, computer science or computer related field with at least 6 years security work experience. - 4 - 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in an roll, knowledge across all 10 domains. - Knowledge of IT law enforcement practices and procedures, such as HITECH/HIPAA and PCI. - 3 years hands-on experience working with network and IS security components, including Cisco firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices. - Experience on IT Infrastructure: data center, networks (voice and data and LAN ), SSL certificates and administration of PKI. - Intuition and keen instincts to pre-empt attacks. - Independent decision making ability and overall project coordination skills. - The ideal candidate will have a strong process and procedural background and have sufficient knowledge of the processes required to support the business goals. - Critical skills and characteristics for on-the-job success: self-starter; analytical problem solving and risk identification/mitigation; sense of urgency; sense of accountability; excellent communication. - Highly organized approach to projects. Project management experience a plus. *Additional Attributes* • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral • Ability to construct meaningful documents and procedures. • Ability to work independently and drive progressive change in the organization • Ability to be an advocate for Information Security in the organization • Excellent integrity and work ethic • Professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and strong presentation skills • Proficiency with MS Office and Visio *Working Environment/Physical Demands * *Working Environment: * - General office environment: Works generally at a desk in a well-lighted, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels. - Periods of stress may occur. *Physical Demands:* - Activities require a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks and in front of a computer monitor. - Some walking and standing relative to interaction with other personnel.
