*System Admin with CHEF Experience* *Long term contract* *Palo Alto, CA* ***must have experience with Chef**** *The Big Picture – Top Skills Should You Possess:* · Automation with Chef · Programming with Ruby · Unix flavors (e.g. Solaris, HPUX, Linux) *What You’ll Be Doing:* The System Administrator’s role is to monitor, manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. *With emphasis on automating tasks with Chef and programming with Ruby*. This individual ensures that system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. · Monitoring of servers, addressing any issues raised and ensuring that SLAs are met · Pro-active maintenance of servers and supporting infrastructure · Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance · Participate in and support capacity planning for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers. · Coordinate with end-users and other IT infrastructure groups to implement server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives · Deploy servers and other related devices in datacenters · Perform and test routine system backups and restores · Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers. Escalate incidents as necessary · Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles. · Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance · Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases · Create required reports in response to business user needs · Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use · Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team *What You Need to Bring to the Table:* - Experience with Chef and Ruby language - Technical knowledge of other Unix flavors (e.g. Solaris, HPUX, Linux) - Knowledge of other IT technologies (Network, Storage, ) a plus - Technical knowledge of Windows Regards: Sam Williams - Recruiting Manager ITBrainiac Inc.
