APM Engineer

POSITION
• As an Application Performance Engineer working with Riverbed’s
Application Performance Management (APM) product suite you will support the
tool infrastructure as well as solve enterprise-wide network, application,
and server performance issues.
• This position combines engineering disciplines with a business focus to
ensure application performance meets business needs.

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
• Administer tool infrastructure such as daily care and feeding of tools,
health check of tools, and software upgrades and patching
• Provide application performance analysis utilizing Riverbed products
primarily using AppInternals Xpert and secondarily using AppResponse Xpert,
and AppTransaction Xpert to monitor and analyze enterprise-wide application
performance end-to-end
• Troubleshoot performance issues for UNIX and Windows based platforms
• Perform network performance analyses

QUALIFICATIONS
Here is what you should bring to the table:
• Experience monitoring, analyzing and tuning application and system
performance
• An understanding of the internal workings of J2EE and / or .NET
• Knowledge of web application architecture and software including Web
Servers (Apache, IIS), J2EE Application Servers (Websphere), Databases
(Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, DB2) and Operating Systems (UNIX, Windows).
While you’re not expected to be a subject matter expert in all of these,
high level knowledge of the functionality of each component and how they
inter-relate and operate is crucial. Basic administrative skills for these
technologies is a plus
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Experience with protocol analyzers and knowledge of router and switch
configuration is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present
technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences

Comments/Special Instructions
Looking for an Application Performance Engineer. Many times a Network
Engineer is a good candidate to fill the Application Performance Engineer
role.
