Role: SQL Database Administrator / SQL DBA Location: New York City, NY
Duration: 3-4 months Need Local and who can attend in-person at client side SCOPE OF SERVICES: * Responsible for analyzing the existing SQL environment, providing remediation recommendations, and planning the phases of the physical relocation of this equipment * Optimize, monitor, and performance tune databases and servers * Assistance with migrations to SQL 2012 and 2014 from legacy versions * Deliver "as is" and future state designs. * Provide technical design and troubleshooting efforts as appropriate to ensure overall project success * Prepare time estimates for phases of technical projects. Develop and maintain project tasks for large and medium projects. Document all aspects of projects to assure other administrators can support the environment easily. * Help define standard engineering designs, templates, processes, and procedures for implementing projects. * Interface with Project Manager to ensure requirements are gathered for projects and that project status is communicated. * Analyze system performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources. Provide recommendations to resolve future performance needs. * Migration of existing services to new hardware / virtual machines Mandatory Skill/Expertise At least 8 years of experience in migration, operations, administration and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012. Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server including Replication, Mirroring and Clustering. Specifically, experience implementing and configuring SQL "Always on" Understanding of, and experience with relational database environments. Experience with installation, configuration and upgrades of SQL Server. Experience migrating large scale data systems on a global scale. Optimize, monitor, and performance tune databases and servers. Experience tuning SQL Server databases, and implementing SQL Server database security measures. Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools including Profiler and Performance Monitor. Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. Scripting skills in writing T-SQL involving tuning queries for performance and creating and maintaining stored procedures, triggers, views and functions. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services. Desirable Skill/Expertise Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) SQL Server 2008; MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) SQL Server 2012. Experience with IBM DB2, DB2 Connect and Data Studio a plus. B.S. degree in Computer Science or related IT field.
