Here is the requirement for my direct client, for the below position please do respond me with the Updated profile to [email protected] or reach me at 609-843-0707. *Position: Solution Architect* *Location: Buffalo, NY* *Duration: Contract* *Required Skills:* Retail Banking Risk Systems and regulatory environments, Hadoop, Big Data, *Job Description:* • Design and own the end to end architecture of secure, robust, scalable, multi-tier, multi-platform systems, including the integration of multiple applications and fulfillment of nonfunctional requirements, while assuring the end to end total cost of ownership and technology value realization. Articulate the application of technology to senior management, demonstrating an understanding of the business needs and drivers, and developing an architectural blueprint that clearly supports these needs and goals. Evergreen application designs to keep pace with evolving best practices and HSBC Group Architecture Domain standards & strategies. Guide and mentor development leads while maintaining a broad understanding of the system, reviewing it from different perspectives to own and manage the technical risks. Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas Impact on the Business • Own the end to end architecture designs of large-scale system solutions and develop solution proposals & roadmaps based on business requirements and IT strategy. Provide pre-sales consultancy and technical leadership to Business and IT teams during project formation and continue this throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare clear documentation describing the technical architecture and implementation design. Maintain an audit trail of design decisions and approvals. Review and approve nonfunctional aspects of application design, ensuring they meet the goals of the solution architecture. Customers / Stakeholders Group Risk SWD, Global Functions Retail Risk, Group SWD, Group Change Delivery, Local and Regional teams Leadership & Teamwork • Work with and influence senior management to understand their customers business and technical issues contributing key insights. Work closely with the Project Manager to define project deliverables. Assess and manage technical risk throughout the implementation. Lead the measurement and assessment of system performance, working effectively within the team to identify and resolve technical issues. • Assist IT and Business project managers in the development of project plans and product roadmaps that balance architecture evolution with business imperatives. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the supported business area and provide guidance in the use of technology to meet short and long term requirements. Act as a technical liaison and consultant to IT and Business project managers. • Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices. • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Operational Effectiveness & Control • Collaborate and liaise with Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects and other Solution Architects to facilitate reviews and ensure consistency of approach. Share information and best practices with others. Build strong relationships with Business and IT partners to ensure requirements are understood and achieved. Foster and maintain vendor relationships in line with IT direction. Recommend the use of outside resources and subject matter experts where appropriate. • Keep up to date on technical and professional developments affecting area of responsibility and understand the value propositions of such technologies. Support the integration of different systems and champion the application of industry patterns and practices in concert with HSBC Group Architecture and Domain philosophy. Assist, as needed, in the development of the strategic technical architecture plans in partnership with the business and HSBC Group Architecture Domains. Evaluate the selection of architecture components used, assessing custom and commercial off the shelf application characteristics. • Mentor and coach development leads pursuing a technical career path. Identify career development opportunities and work with line managers to ensure they are acted upon. Provide feedback on individual performance and contribute to the formulation of structured development plans and performance evaluations. • Ensure that all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks. • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. Major Challenges – Establish Architectural direction for Group Retail Risk data, reporting and regulatory infrastructure. Create, align and advance the strategic roadmap for with current Global order book projects and business priorities. Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) • Ensure compliance of both general and anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) compliance controls as well as operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Align Risk Data aggregation solutions with BCBS principles. Role Dimensions • This role does not include line management responsibilities. The position relates to technology projects & functions and leverages new and existing technology potential in support of short and long-term business objectives. Major components of the position are: • Global Technology Strategy – Work with architecture and domain owners to understand and communicate Group goals. Understand business needs and assess the feasibility of developing integrated global projects. Develop technology solutions roadmaps that support and comply with strategic goals. • Project Management – Design and assist in implementing technologies to resolve business issues and allow businesses to take advantage of opportunities. Provide consultancy to project managers and manage technical risk, ensure total cost of ownership is assured. • Technical Support – Analyze business requirements and champion architecture solutions. Understand business goals and objectives for projects and ensure the architecture facilitates their realisation. Provide business and technology areas with technical direction and problem resolution to ensure business and IT objectives are met. Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications • Extensive experience in Retail Banking Risk Systems and regulatory environments. Data, BI/MI, BASEL, Capital Adequacy/Stress Testing and Loan impairment calculation systems knowledge required. • Extensive knowledge of BI tools for reporting, storage and ETL. Knowledge of data architecture solutions from IBM and Teradata are critical. Strong experience and knowledge of emerging trends in big data and open source solutions such as Hadoop. • 5-7 Years supporting Global Financial institutions on enterprise-wide initiatives. • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with major or minor in computer science or related field and seven to ten years progressive experience in building and designing application systems, including two years as a technical team lead. • The passion and ability to lead, motivate and develop technical personnel, including mentoring and coaching technical leads. • Excellent technical skills with broad enterprise background across multiple systems. Proven experience of end to end system and application design and a clear capability to understand and act upon business requirements, concerns and constraints. • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
