Job Role: SAP datawarehouse
Location: Hoboken, NJ
Duration: 6 months

Job Description would be better listed as ‘Enterprise Data Warehouse Data
Modeler’.

In context of client phased SAP implementation they will be deploying SAP
Financials followed by Order-to-Cash. They have licensed SAP with HANA.

In the near term and potentially throughout the first phase (3 years)
client will continue to use and leverage their existing Data Warehouse
extract processing feeding an IBM Cognos BI reporting

environment and IBM TM1 Consolidation/Planning system.  This processing
also employs IBM Netezza in the overall mix.  These are the characteristics
of the person for this position.
client's case SAP BW would be used as an extractor to the existing
BI/Ananlytics environment/capability. Finally, we are wondering if in the
experience this candidate is preparing technical

specifications versus more pure, detailed data modeling.


Qualifications:
Required
• A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in developing Data Warehouse
Data Models using Kimball Methodology in large, complex database systems
(350+ tables).
• Minimum of 3 plus years of experience developing data models for Data
Warehouses based on SAP (Finance, Sales & Distribution, Project Accounting
etc.)
• Highly competent with relational database design and structured query
language (SQL).
• Minimum of five years’ experience with ERwin, Power Designer, ER/Studio
or similar data modeling tools.
• Solid understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse
technologies (Dimensional Modeling, Denormalization, Data Warehouse
Appliances, OLAP/ROLAP, In Memory BI Technologies).
• Hands-on experience with developing meta data layer, reports and
dahsboards using Cognos, Qlikview or any other BI Platforms
• Solid understanding of ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Business Objects
Data Services). Hands on experience with these technologies a plus.

Preferred
• Experience in developing data models in Media/Publishing industry
• Experience with SAP BW, Business Planning & Consolidation, Business
Objects Data Services is a plus
• Hands-on experience with Informatica or Business Objects Data Services is
a plus
• Experience with SalesForce.com, Eloqua etc. would be a plu

Description:
Responsibilities:
• Analyze data requirements and develop logical and physical data models
for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Marts and Metadata Repositories.
• Translate business data requirements into logical and physical data models
• Collaborate with the Database Administrator to convert the Physical data
model to a high performance physical database on Netezza platform. Ensure
the design approach results in a physical

database to support Wiley’s business Intelligence capabilities.
• Create and manage an array of data design deliverables including data
models, data diagrams, data flows and corresponding data dictionary
documentation. Develops and maintains data

architecture and administration standards including standardization of
table names, column names, data types, etc.
• Follow standards for database design and overall data architecture to
assess data quality and act as a liaison with various technical service
teams which include database administrators and

platform administrators.
• Identify opportunities for sharing and utilizing data across boundaries,
thus extracting maximum benefit from the data resource.
• Participates in or leads database design discussions, collaborating with
developers to ensure the database designs are accurate and support
efficient analysis and reporting capabilities.

The primary focus of this role is to develop Data Models for implementing
Data Warehouse based on data from SAP ECC applications that also integrates
data from legacy systems. The Data Modeler is

responsible for analyzing data requirements, developing logical and
physical data models for the Data Warehouse and Data Marts. The individual
in this role will translate business data requirements

into logical and physical data models, will understand and apply the
concepts of proper data modeling and database design, and utilize a strong
understanding of source data to ensure the design

approach results in a logical and efficient data model to support Wiley’s
business Intelligence and analytics capabilities. The position will also be
responsible for on-going development and

enhancements to the core Wiley EDW related to SAP datasets and partnering
with the existing ETL development team around the existing data warehouse
for non-ERP related data domains (structured and

semi-structured). Additional partnership will occur between this role and
the BI development and Planning System development members in how SAP data
is leveraged to provide reports, cubes, analytics and planning models to
business and technology teams.
