*Please send resume to [email protected] <[email protected]> * *Job Title: Windows Server Migration SpecialistLocation: Berlin, VTDuration: 6 MonthsDirect Client PositionSCOPE OF WORKThe selected contractor will analyze current Windows 2003 servers, categorizing applications and workloads by type, vulnerability, and degree of complexity. They will be responsible for gathering technical and business requirements that are fulfilled by these systems so that these maybe validated after migration. They will develop a planning document based on systems analysis that will detail the steps necessary to migrate software and applications to a new server environment (Windows 2008 or 2012). This document will include verification that backups and recovery points exist, and post-migration validation tests.Upon review and acceptance of the migration plan, the contractor may be asked to conduct migration and validation, or be available to guide State employees through the process. The contractor should be prepared to research upgrade paths, alternative software solutions, analyze custom-built software to determine best migration strategy, and supply remediation for any challenges encountered.The Department of Children & Families – Information Services Division (DCF-ISD) is looking to retire servers running the Server 2003 operating system and preferably migrate server content to newer servers running Server 2012 operating system but minimally to Server 2008 operating system. After July 14, 2015, Microsoft will no longer issue security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003. DCF needs to take steps now to plan and execute a migration strategy to protect our infrastructure.
