*Job Title: MS-Database Analyst IV (Sr. Applications Database Analyst (Mainframe DB2)* *Duration: 4+ months contract* *Location: San Diego, CA 92123* Days to be worked: Mon - Fri, occasional weekend requirements Onsite strongly preferred by client. *Description:* Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company databases. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 6-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Position: *Advanced Database Analyst* Goals: · Provide customers with consistent, cost-effective, and professional Database and related sub-systems services. · Provide primary database architectural and administrative support for new projects (such as Data Modeling, Attribution and Referential Integrity). · Assure that Database availability and performance meets or exceeds customer SLA’s. · Provide consulting services to customers with relation to changes, upgrades, or new functionality in their environment. Responsibilities: · Available as DBA of VLDBs for large, mission-critical applications, as well as application development support to a large developer community · Assist Application Development Project Lifecycle, from design, configuration, and construction, through migration to production, as well as SQL optimization and post-implementation support. · Assist Application Development Maintenance and Enhancement activities – including, but not limited to, schema changes and code reviews. · Responsible for all Database Analyst activities. · Configure and install logical database objects · Configure and install Stored Procedures and Triggers · Define Application Objects · Define application disk storage requirements · Create/execute tests for Application Objects · Determine and enforce application specific standards · Maintain security to Application Objects · Determine, prioritize and modify queries, reports and views · Perform SQL query performance analysis & optimization · Troubleshoot and resolve Application problems · Perform application table data conversion · Provide support for customer problems and requests. · Provide expert technical assistance to team members where needed. · Provide training and mentoring to team members. · Co-ordinate projects with other departments. · Participate on and/or lead large and/or complex projects. · Assure documentation is accurate and complete. · Comply with applicable company security policy and best practice. Authorizations · Perform all actions needed to fulfill the responsibilities listed above. Job Qualifications: · Strong knowledge of database systems. · Strong knowledge of related Applications. · Able to recommend strategic directions in the database environment. · Good technical writing skills. · Advanced DBA skills. · Expert in multiple database systems. · Advanced Project planning and coordination experience. · Excellent analytical and organizational skills. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Self–directed, able to identify projects and set priorities. · Able to evaluate new technologies and their impact on the database environment. · Strong administrative skills. · Good situation management skills. · Strong problem determination and solving skills. · Excellent customer relations and communications skills.
