If you're not, you should be running "vmware-user-suid-wrapper" instead, and that binary should be suid root (owned by root with mode 4755). . for the crash issue, do you have gdb installed? If you do, could you run vmware-user inside gdb and get a better stack trace (once it crashes, running "bt" should give you better information)? Otherwise, could you attach your vmware-user binary to the bug so I can try to reproduce it?
