When I go to download page e.g.:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/open-vm-tools/files/open-vm-tools/stable-8.8.x/

then there is only ONE package. I found no variants for different platforms like
Ubuntu, Solaris, RedHat Windows7,....

Is this true? In contrast to the "normal" VmWareTools there is really only one 
source for all?

Is there a download page for precompiled versions for e.g. Solaris 11?
