Subject: heartbeat watchdog feature

Hi guys,
 I am looking to
https://github.com/drothlis/open-vm-tools/tree/master/lib/rpcOut and in
particular
I have interest to use openvm tools in my virtual machine for the watchdog
feature.

As far as I understood (I hope correctly) vSphere supports this kind of service
on host but it is required to install vmware tools.

Due the fact that my virtual machine is like a skeleton, I mean that from that
many many things are removed for performance purposes, I wish to know if
open-vm-tools are sufficient to be used for this kind of functionality I wish
(Heartbeat and restart machine in case of loop/etc).

In the directories I have seen rpcIn and rpcOut that probably are modules I
need for heartbeat, I have interest to know how I can compile just these one
and install it on my machine.

My virtual machine is not using vmxnet but e1000 driver, could I replace it
with e1000 ?

Can you help?
