On behalf of the Open64 Steering Group, I have been pursuing
a license change for Open64 sources from "GPL version 2" to
a "GPL version 2 or later". This change will enable upgrading
the GCC/G++ frontends to a newer GPL v3 version.

I sent a license change request to all the known copyright holders
of GPL version 2 sources in open64.net and have received signed
authorization letters from the following entities:
SGI, ICT - Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Delaware,
Advanced Micro Devices, Simplight Nanoelectronics, Tensilica,
   nVidia, Hewlett-Packard and Tsinghua University.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to all these organizations
for supporting the Open64 community and their contribution to the
continued adoption and momentum for Open64.

However, Cray/PathScale has so far not provided this authorization.
I am still working hard to obtain their approval. Cray/PathScale is a
major contributor to the open64.net source base and their authorization
is necessary before the license can be changed in all the sources.

 Regards,

 - Suneel Jain
