If we lose this vote, we may lose the ACTA battle... This Thursday, June 21st, the "International Trade" (INTA) committee in the EU Parliament will adopt its draft report on ACTA. Depending on its recommendation, this report will push for the adoption or the rejection of ACTA by the European Parliament as a whole, during the final plenary vote (scheduled on July 3-5), and therefore by the EU. Industry lobbyists and the European Commission are very active and ask INTA members to vote pro-ACTA's amendments: either to adopt ACTA, or to postpone the final vote for years, pending the EU Court of Justice's opinion on ACTA's compatibility with the EU treaties. Such a postponment would ruin our chances of having ACTA rejected swiftly and pushin for a positive copyright reform, and would pave the way for more repressive measures to be adopted in the meantime. Some of the previous votes in others committees were shortly won, and a last-minute trick could smash all our efforts. We have until Thursday to call INTA's MEPs, and be sure that they will recommend ACTA's rejection, and especially vote against postponing the vote.
