Hello OpenABM community, The CoMSES Admin Team is pleased to announce some new features on OpenABM.
*Model Reviews and Certification* Model authors may request that their models be reviewed for completeness and fulfilling CoMSES Modeling Standards. Models that meet these modeling standards will be certified and will display a Certification badge as well as be included on OpenABM’s home page as a Featured Model. In the near-future, the Model Library browsing & search system will permit the community to search and filter models based on Certification. When a model is reviewed, a CoMSES volunteer reviewer will provide notes to the model author indicating whether the model meets these standards. If any elements require revisions in order to meet Standards, the author will be given notes on what those steps are. Think of this as a review process akin to the publication review process of a journal. In this case, however, the focus is on the implementation of the model, not the underlying research question. Hopefully, the Model Review system and model certification will assist the CoMSES Community in recognizing well-developed models and help us all to raise the bar of quality for our field of practice. When submitting a comment about a model, the commenter can rate that model from 1 to 5 stars. Models will display their average ratings, and as this system is refined, we will be able to provide mechanisms for searching and sorting models according to their ratings. Plus, the model comments themselves can be rated by the community as useful or not. The comments that are found to be most useful by the community will display first, making it easier for the top comments to be easily viewed on a model. This model commenting system is inspired by review and comment systems like those used by Amazon for their product listings.
