It's actually a little more complicated than that.
I still haven't gotten the OpenAFS client running, but Neale Ferguson
and I got AFS far enough that you can use the Arla client, suitably
patched (also on S/390) and the OpenAFS server, and get things running.
The diffs are available at

and I probably should send them to whomever at the OpenAFS project wants
them.
