Per Derrick's suggestion during the AFS workshop at Lisa, I've tried shutting off jumbograms on my volserver with the -nojumbo option, however, as near as I can tell, this doesn't result in any change to dump performance. As it happens, the system I am testing on is already doing around 8mb/sec, but it's a completely idle test cell with nothing on it. I can't really test on my production file/vol servers unless there is a way to tell vos to not use jumbograms (i.e. like the rxtune tool could do for individual clients).
Derrick, was there something I missed besides just adding the -nojumbo option to volserver? From your description, I was figuring on seeing at least a perceptable increase, but I can't see any change. This testing was done purely from localhost. I have not tried from remote hosts yet. Do you still have the patch you used to instrument the server to where you could see the problem (where it was repeatedly traversing the list)? -- Nathan ------------------------------------------------------------ Nathan Neulinger EMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] University of Missouri - Rolla Phone: (573) 341-4841 Computing Services Fax: (573) 341-4216 _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-devel
