Any possiblity of using ssh to move the data that one time? Don't use afs to copy that much out, but rather use a more traditional method to get the data on the computers. There are very nice windows programs that will do scp from a central server.
On the other hand, 2.0GB of data over 100baseT is going to take a while (10 megs/sec for 2000 megs is 200 secs, absolute best speed- that's 200 seconds for each of 10 thousand machines. ouch) On Mon, 25 Feb 2002, Lubos Kejzlar wrote: > Hi all, > > we are trying to extend our (long lived) campus-wide Unix-based AFS > infrastructure (Transarc AFS 3.6 DB servers, mix of Transarc/OpenAFS clients) > to end-user workstations running Win 98/NT/W2k as a main distributed > storage solution. > > Unfortunately, our users experienced _significant_ problems during pilot > phase: > > - all significant tests are running on Win NT SP5 workstations.
