After one additional day of code reviewing, it seems that I got stuck. Trying to list any files lying under /afs still crashes my machine ... I managed to get rid of most of the warnings from the kind blablabla pointer to integer blablabla, but it seems that I still have not solved the real cause of the crash - Hmmm....... I still have the feeling that the kernel module causes the problem .... I attached the patch file with my changes. Please note that this is only a very quick and dirty hack without any "ifdef ..." to seperate most of these only ia64-specific changes from the other targets.
Any comments, hints etc. are wellcomed. Thanks Herbert
