Suddenly (finally?) some Dell 2850 appeared. I installed FreeBSD 5.3
and tried to build an AFS server from openafs-1.3.78 like this:

./configure --prefix=/usr/openafs --enable-full-vos-listvol-switch
--enable-largefile-fileserver --enable-debug --enable-bitmap-later
--enable-fast-restart --disable-kernel-module --with-afs-sysname=amd64_fbsd_53
--disable-pam

I added/changed this

/afs/pdc.kth.se/home/h/haba/Public/openafs-amd64_fbsd_53.patch

and now it seems I have some kind of AFS server. I have read and written files
but
not much more.

Things that are not fixed because I kluged together an Arla (that did
not build out of the box either) are the kernel module and client
parts.

It is a bit annoying that the utilities core dump when trying to read
a token and there is no kernel module (ok, -localauth is my friend, but
could we please die with a decent error message instead of core?)

Comments welcome.

Harald.
